Proactive Measures to Deter Phone theft

In conjunction with Operation Shepherd, Merseyside Police hosted their very first phone marking event to combat a rise in phone thefts, with the aim to roll-out this scheme across the force.

Their phone marking event, held in Liverpool One, was very successful, with many of the local public attending.

Sergeant Craig Winstanley, said: “Mobile phones have become an integral part of our lives. We use them for communication, entertainment, and even as a tool for work.

“Getting your phone marked acts as a deterrent. If potential thieves see your phone is marked – they’re less likely to attempt to steal it - because it will be harder to sell.”
