History

Selectamark Security Systems plc was established in 1971 and is an internationally respected supplier of asset identification and property marking products and secure online registration databases.

The Company works in partnership with police and law enforcement agencies both in the UK and internationally by providing security products, services and consultancy for large scale crime prevention and property marking initiatives.

The Company operates the following brands:

•    SelectaDNA - global leader in forensic marking with a patented synthetic DNA product portfolio;
•    SelectaMARK – well established chemical etching solutions that help protect homes, businesses, government departments and educational establishments from theft and burglaries;
•    SelectaLABEL - one of the UK’s leading suppliers of security and asset labels; and 
•    BikeRegister - the UK’s National Cycle Database. 

SelectaDNA was developed in 2004 as an alternative property marking solution to Selectamark's globally recognised range of stencil and chemical etching. Incorporating the latest DNA technology, SelectaDNA has become the internationally recognised brand for Forensic Coding with over 93% of the UK's police forces using it to deter crime and drive down burglaries and other thefts.

The Company is certified to ISO 9001:2008, the internationally recognised quality management system, and its products and services are delivered to the highest quality standards in order to also meet the requirements set out by The Loss Prevention Certificate Board (“LPCB”), Thatcham QA and ACPO CPI’s Secured by Design.

Selectamark is committed to delivering world class online databases for the registration of assets across a range of industries from critical infrastructure to cycling. In this respect the Company is unique in holding the very latest LPS1224:Issue3 for Secure Asset Registers. The Company is also certified to ISO 27001:2005 by BSI demonstrating its commitment to best practice in internationaly recognised Information Security Management Systems.

The Company is also committed to being environmentally aware and as a result follows the systems prescribed in ISO 14001:2004 and seeks to minimise its impact on the environment wherever possible.

The Company is a member of the British Security Industry Association (“BSIA”), Banknote Watch and the Aerospace, Defence and Security trade body (“ADS”) and takes an active role in a number of their committees.
