Officers and local neighbourhood teams from Surrey Police are continuing to distribute SelectaDNA kits to households in hotspot areas as part of Operation Spearhead.
In excess of 30,000 SelectaDNA property marking kits are being handed out as part of a 12-month campaign to reduce burglary.
Detective Inspector Dee Fielding, who is leading the operation, said: “We continue to roll out the kits in identified areas of Surrey and one of our focuses is in the rural areas of the county. Each of our three boroughs have dedicated officers to identify key areas which we feel would benefit from the kits whilst at the same time engaging with the public to build up relationships and public confidence.
“We want to reduce our burglary offences in Surrey and my message to would-be burglars is don’t come here to commit crime. If you do and you’ve got stolen property on you we can trace it back to the original owner and prove it’s not yours“.
