Convenient Way To Protect Staff & Stock

SelectaDNA is being used to protect a busy convenience store after it became a target for low-level crime.

The Spar UK store, owned by independent retailer Raj Aggarwal, is in Hackenthorpe, Sheffield, and was subject to a spate of shoplifting incidents where cigarettes and alcohol were taken.

“We are using SelectaDNA to give peace of mind to our staff and to add an extra layer of protection for our stock,” said Raj. “So far, it has made a real difference. The spray is discreet enough not to cause conflict with customers and is very simple to use.”

“Because we’re a big neighbourhood store and we rely on the local community, we need customers to want to come in here and to feel safe when they do,” said Raj. “While we have only experienced low-level crime so far, we wanted to make sure that criminals knew the store was off limits for more serious offences such as armed robbery.”

Raj has erected deterrent warning signage on the main window, doors and shelves at the store to warn any potential shoplifters that SelectaDNA is in use. The signage in itself has been very effective in keeping thieves away.

“I would definitely endorse SelectaDNA,” said Raj. “Since we have started using it, there have been no incidents of shoplifting at all, where previously they had been a serious cause for concern.”
