Step-by-Step: Marking Your Tools

Using the SelectaDNA Tool Marking Kit, you can mark up to 50 individual items, including:

• Power tools (such as drills, angle grinders)
• Hand tools (such as hammers, spanners, wrenches)
• Equipment stored in commercial vans or other vehicles

Follow these steps to apply the forensic marking effectively:

1. Choose a Suitable Area

• Select a discreet location on each tool – ideally in a textured, recessed, or hard-to-reach area.
• This ensures the mark is difficult to find and remove.

2. Prepare the DNA Solution

• Shake the SelectaDNA bottle vigorously for 15 seconds before use.
• Dip the applicator into the solution, making sure to pick up a small amount and at least one microdot per application.

3. Apply the Marking

• Gently dab the solution onto the selected area of each tool.
• One kit contains enough solution to mark at least 50 items.

4. Allow to Dry and Cure

• The solution will be touch-dry within approximately 30 minutes.
• Full curing takes around one week.
• Once cured, the mark is invisible to the naked eye but can be seen under UV light.

5. Apply Warning Labels

• Affix the provided SelectaDNA stickers to your tools and vehicle.
